Georgia Harper is the Scholarly Communications Advisor for the University of Texas at Austin Libraries. She also advises the University of Texas System campuses on copyright issues, and is a full-time student in the School of Information, focusing on the future of libraries in a networked world. She has been involved in issues related to scholarly communication since the early 90′s. She attended the Scholarly Communications Institute, summer 2007, sponsored by the Association of Reasearch Libraries and the American Library Association, and works on special projects in this area for the Libraries that further strategic goals. |
| Alex Bienkowski is a reference Librarian at the Moody Medical Library at UTMB in Galveston. He obtained his library school degree from the University of Wisconsin and benefited enormously from an NIH traineeship program in medical and science librarianship conducted at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Memphis. He has been at UTMB for more years than he likes to think about, and has watched technologies come and go. (Does anybody else in here remember microfiche?) Reference duties include instruction in literature searching and document retrieval for faculty and students, and this contact makes him ponder the present state and possible future of scientific publication. He writes the Library’s blog LibraryLink and otherwise tries to make himself useful. | |
